Senior Property Accountant

Senior Property Accountant | Arlington Properties | Birmingham, AL

Arlington Properties is looking for a Senior Property Accountant to join our accounting team in Birmingham, AL. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who wants to lead a team, own the numbers behind a growing multifamily portfolio, and work closely with ownership, lenders, and operations leadership.

• Supervise and develop a team of 3-4 property accountants
• Own monthly financial reporting and analysis across owned and third-party managed communities, including assets in development
• Prepare and review monthly operating statements for the managed portfolio
• Support external reporting to lenders and owners - quarterly compliance, annual audits, and tax requests
• Assist in cash flow forecasting for distributions and capital contributions
• Lead transitional accounting for assets entering or exiting management, from setup through final financials
• Support accounting systems maintenance and project/system implementations

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• 10+ years of related experience (public accounting and industry background preferred; real estate a plus, not required)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Excellent communication skills — you'll regularly interact with investors, lenders, third-party advisors, and executive leadership
• A proactive, self-starting mindset that thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

This role is based in our Birmingham corporate office.
