The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of the LLH Foundation accounting records. We are seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in nonprofit accounting to join our team. The ideal candidate understands nonprofit financial management, fund accounting, grant reporting, and compliance requirements, and is committed to supporting our mission through accurate financial stewardship.
This position is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The Staff Accountant will manage bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly. Additionally, this role involves detailed job costing and general ledger maintenance to provide insightful financial data that supports strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will contribute to the overall financial health of the company by delivering precise and timely accounting information. This role is 100% onsite in office Monday-Friday.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of nonprofit accounting experience required.
- Experience with fund accounting
. - Knowledge of nonprofit financial reporting and grant management.
- Experience preparing for annual audits.
- Proven experience with bank reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Experience with job costing and account analytical processes.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or progress towards certification.
- Experience with accounting software such as Quick Books, SAP, or Oracle.
- Familiarity with advanced Excel functions and financial modeling.
- Previous experience in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations to verify and balance cash accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely to the general ledger.
- Analyze account balances and transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Conduct account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Support job costing activities by tracking and analyzing project-related expenses.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and support audits.
- Maintain and update the general ledger to reflect all financial transactions accurately.
