    This role helps interns gain practical public accounting experience by assisting with tax preparation and participating in audit engagements, mirroring first-year associate responsibilities.
What You’ll Actually Do
  • Collaborate:
    Work closely with tax principals, managers, and associates on a diverse array of tax returns.
  • Prepare:
    Assist with the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns, including partnerships, C-Corp, and S-Corp entities.
  • Support:
    Contribute to tax engagements for clients across various industries, such as manufacturing, construction, and retail.
  • Engage:
    Participate in at least one audit engagement and provide assistance with basic audit procedures.
  • Train:
    Complete introductory audit training that covers the audit process, fundamental procedures, and professional standards.
The Must-Haves
  • Background:
    Entry-Level position pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting. Must have completed Intermediate Accounting I by Spring 2028.
  • Experience:

    Ability to work 40 hours per week from January until no later than April 15, 2028. Maintain a 3.0 GPA, both cumulatively and in your accounting major.
  • Skills:

    Excellent oral and written communication skills; proven time management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities; demonstrated leadership skills and initiative.
  • Bonus:
    Preferred completion of Business Taxation by Spring 2028. Prior work experience, related or unrelated, is a plus. Strong motivation for a public accounting career in Birmingham, along with a high degree of curiosity, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm.
