Accounting​/Payroll Specialist

Our client, a beloved nonprofit zoo in the Birmingham community, is looking for an accounting professional who's ready to blend payroll support with hands-on GL work. • $21/hour

• Collect and validate biweekly payroll data for roughly 120 employees, confirming timesheets and PTO entries
• Prepare payroll files for submission to an outsourced processing partner
• Maintain the GL, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Support month-end close alongside the accounting team
• Navigate a system transition as the organization moves to a new ERP platform
• Jump in on other accounting and payroll projects as needed

• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Highly comfortable in Excel, including pivot tables
• Background in nonprofit, education, hospitality, is a plus
• Experience with Payroll
• Payroll systems other than Quick Books required (Paycom, Paycore, ADP, etc.)
• ERP software transition experience is a plus
