Overview
Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant provides essential clerical and organizational support to ensure accurate and efficient operations. This full-time role is responsible for filing, sorting mail, data entry, and other administrative duties as assigned. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to supporting the mission of The Arc of Central Alabama.
- File documents and maintain organized filing systems
- Sort and distribute incoming mail
- Perform data entry with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
- Assist with general clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, and faxing
- Maintain office supplies and notify supervisor of inventory needs
- Support staff with administrative tasks as needed
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Follow organizational procedures and contribute to a positive office environment
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Strong understanding of clerical procedures, including recordkeeping and filing systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented and organized
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks while maintaining high standards
- Good judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional attitude and demeanor

- This position typically operates in an office environment. The role requires frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Occasional travel may be required for meetings or training.
