Overview
Position Summary The Library Clerk is responsible for various duties as assigned in the operation of the library, including circulation duties, shelving, inventory, and processing library materials.

Local Salary Schedule (L)
Non-exempt $16.50/hour for a maximum of 19 hours per week (Part Time).
- Perform daily circulation operations, including checking materials in and out, renewing items, and assisting with holds and reserves
- Provide front-line customer service by assisting students, faculty, and staff with basic library inquiries
- Accurately shelve and organize library materials according to Library of Congress classification system
- Conduct routine shelf reading to ensure materials are in proper order
- Assist with inventory control, including tracking missing or damaged items and updating records
- Process new library materials, including labeling, stamping, covering, and preparing items for circulation
- Maintain patron records and ensure confidentiality of user information
- Operate library systems and equipment, such as integrated library system, barcode scanners, and copiers
- Support opening and closing procedures of the library as assigned, including weekends
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming library environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accuracy in routine tasks
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to lift, move, and shelve library materials (often up to 15lbs) and to stand, bend, or reach for extended periods
- Previous experience in a library, academic, or customer service environment
- Familiarity with Library of Congress classification system
- Experience using an integrated library system
