General Responsibilities:
The Business Officer I supports departmental operations by performing a variety of administrative and financial tasks. This role ensures smooth workflow, processes contracts, payment requests, purchase orders, and P-card transactions. Supports faculty with the grant pre-award process, including proposal preparation and submission coordination. Coordinates events and travel arrangements for faculty, staff, and visitors, prepares itineraries for guests, handles their travel arrangements, and provides on-site support to ensure timely arrivals.
Processes travel reimbursements accurately and in compliance with policies. Serves as a resource for facilities coordination and provides project support. Acts as a liaison between the department, central UAB offices, and external stakeholders. Supports faculty promotion processes and maintains related documentation. Processes human resource documents and ensures compliance with institutional guidelines.
Hybrid Eligibility: This hybrid-eligible position requires the selected candidate to work 100% onsite during the initial six-month probationary period.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
$52,555 – $75,000
QualificationsMinimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
