Collections Specialist, II (On-Site)Full Time Clerical Birmingham, AL, US
Job Summary:
Responsible for providing quality customer support for Clients and Taxpayers through phones, email, and correspondence, daily processing of payments, working delinquent accounts, and providing follow‑up for Clients and Supervisors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs collections duties to secure outstanding tax audit liabilities
- Follow‑up on delinquent accounts and NSF payments with invoicing, collection calls and processing correspondence.
- Compiles and sorts documents, such as audit discovery/findings documents and checks, substantiating business transactions.
- Prepares final documents and reports/assessments for signature and review per Uniform procedures and per internal control procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service through inbound/outbound calls and emails
- Prepares files for storage and maintains file log for items sent to client storage facility
- Assist in research, resolve and record problems
- Build and maintain audit spreadsheets and queries in MS Office applications as needed.
- Complete tasks by deadline and with little supervision
- Makes a minimum of 25 collection calls per day
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in accounting or business-related field preferred
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years in an office environment, with heavy inbound/outbound phone experience. Heavy data entry (10-key and typing).
- Minimum 3 years customer service and / or collections experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to speak effectively with customers and employees
- Positive attitude and TEAM spirit.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine
- This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
- The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
