Responsibilities- Verbatim reporting and transcribing of court proceedings, hearings, and conferences.
- Maintain a real‑time record of court proceedings using DOCKET and the Justice system.
- Type portions of the judge’s decision in real time and check and operate electronic recording equipment.
- Log court proceedings, play back sections, maintain logs of exhibits, and prepare transcripts.
- Prepare, distribute, and preserve transcripts and related reports, ensuring accuracy for appeal or court order.
- Attend courtroom proceedings, read back transcripts, and assist with court logistics.
- Perform clerical duties related to the court, including witness sign‑in and maintaining courtroom supplies.
- Supervise digital recording systems and provide secure cloud backup storage.
- High school graduation or equivalent and at least 2 years of courtroom clerk experience (or equivalent education).
- For Court Reporter I: demonstrate professional competence as defined in Nebraska Supreme Court Rules §§1‑204(A)(2) and (B)/(C); proof of certification through NCRA, AAERT, or equivalent.
- For Court Reporter II: same as Court Reporter I and certification as a Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR) or Federal Certified Realtime Reporter (FCRR) through NCRA or equivalent.
- Proficient in use of digital recording equipment, DOCKET/Justice, and court reporting software (e.g., Eclipse, Case CATalyst, Liberty Recorder).
- Ability to type accurately in real time while monitoring proceedings.
- Knowledge of courtroom procedures, legal vocabulary, and exhibit admission.
- Strong spelling, punctuation, and transcription skills; experience with advanced word processing and internet applications.
- Preferred: legal experience, bilingual English/Spanish, and travel willingness.
- Competitive pay:
District Courtroom Clerk $40,822.75–$41,843.37 annually;
Court Reporter I $57,441.71–$58,877.74;
Court Reporter II $66,495.95–$68,158.37. - Comprehensive package including benefits, paid time off, retirement, professional development, and eligibility for additional income per transcripts.
