Job Summary
A Revenue Officer is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service and accurate data entry. This role involves supporting taxpayers through phone calls, emails, and correspondence related to local business licenses and sales and use tax online systems.
Duties and Responsibilities- Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound phone calls, providing clear and concise information to taxpayers.
- Offer online support to taxpayers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively through email, drafting correspondence and responding to inquiries.
- Accurately enter and update data in relevant systems, ensuring data integrity.
- Meet deadlines with minimal supervision, managing time efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an office environment with significant inbound and outbound phone responsibilities.
- At least 3 years of customer service experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with business tax requirements in Alabama, California, Louisiana, Georgia, and Texas is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Proficient in 10-key typing with a speed of 10,000+ keystrokes per hour.
- Keen attention to detail, capable of proofreading correspondence and identifying errors.
- Ability to read and interpret city and county tax ordinances.
- Competence in preparing routine correspondence with minimal guidance.
- Strong mathematical skills, including performing basic computations using calculators or spreadsheet software.
- Problem‑solving abilities to satisfactorily resolve routine situations based on supervisor’s guidance or established instructions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of an office setting.
- The employee will work at an individual workstation, utilizing a telephone and computer.
- Must be able to remain stationary for most of the day.
- Constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer or copy machine.
- Occasional movement within the office to access files or office equipment.
- Frequent communication via telephone, requiring clear and effective speech.
