Position: Runner / Office File Clerk – Part Time

Hours:
Flexible but must be available 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Runner/Office File Clerk to support our busy law firm. This position plays an essential role in ensuring smooth daily office operations by providing administrative support, maintaining office organization, assisting staff and attorneys, and handling local deliveries and errands as needed.

The ideal candidate is professional, self‑motivated, able to prioritize tasks effectively, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced office environment.

Key Responsibilities Daily Duties
  • File loose paperwork into appropriate client files.
  • Serve as backup receptionist by answering phones during lunch.
  • Prepare conference rooms for depositions, mediations, meetings, and other events, including setting up beverages and supplies.
  • Assist meeting participants with requests such as copies, lunches, and other accommodations.
  • Clean and reset conference rooms after meetings conclude.
  • Make copies and provide general administrative support for staff.
  • Maintain copier supplies, including stocking paper and organizing office supplies.
  • Stock supplies.
  • Scan and organize closed client files when other assigned tasks are completed.
As-Needed Duties
  • Make hand deliveries and serve subpoenas throughout the Birmingham area.
  • Run errands for attorneys and staff.
  • Track time spent on billable client-related tasks.
  • Assist with scanning and archiving closed files.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Proficiency with basic office equipment, including copiers, scanners, and multi‑line phone systems.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • A pleasant disposition, be honest and dependable.
