Green Bean Receiving Lead
The Green Bean Receiving Lead reports to the Production Manager. This role ensures the timely and accurate unloading of green coffee beans using established quality and operational procedures while meeting SQF sanitation standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Mentor, train, and coach other team members.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow of assigned staff.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist managers with issues as they arise in the green bean warehouse and other areas of the plant as needed or when the production manager is not available, and ensure that the plant is always running efficiently.
- Assist with supervision of employees and products, resolve any people or quality issues, and escalate to the production manager when necessary.
- Operate a floor scale system including the tare function to arrive at an accurate weight.
- Operate the following equipment safely and efficiently:
- "Strong-Arm" pneumatic manipulator as used in the unloading of green coffee
- Industrial standing lift truck
- Industrial electrical hoist
- Enter material information, including STO numbers and bag marks, into the HMI control screens
- Transport and dispose of all refuse in the proper compactor
- Maintain the receiving area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion and follow the established sanitation schedule to keep the area "Tour Ready"
- Perform accurate bag counts during department inventories
- Adhere to all GMPS, Quality, and Food Safety requirements
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma (or an equivalent such as a GED) is required
- Reliable attendance in accordance with company standards.
- 1 year of relevant experience working in a manufacturing facility
- Must be a motivated, self-starter and willing to train other employees in different areas of the plant
- Ability to solve problems especially in situations involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Possess a certified lift truck operator certification for both standing and pallet jack lifts or have the ability to train and acquire proper certification (through Royal Cup's Lift Truck Certification Program) to prove safe operation
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Ability to operate basic office equipment including telephones, and desktop computers
- The ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business or a similar discipline and/or equivalent experience in a supervisory role.
- Route sales management experience in a beverage market and/or route distribution.
- Prior experience using hand-held sales device tools and experience with SAP are highly preferable.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely climb up and down stairs and stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hand tools and fingering/handling to operate buttons/levers of equipment to perform quality checks during the run, weights, seals, and appearance of package by squeezing and physically handling packs.
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs and carry 25lbs.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and other movements as needed to stack product and to clean/maintain equipment.
- Ability to balance and reach up and forward up to 48'' and overhead up to 84'' to access equipment, machinery, or product.
- Tolerance for variable temperatures and frequent exposure to production machinery and equipment.
