Position Overview

Position Overview: The Project Manager is responsible for managing all requirements for Civil and Construction projects including change orders, submittals, procurement, project financial setup, project financial updates, and project schedule to ensure projects are completed in a quality, profitable, safe and timely manner.

Location & Travel Details

Location & Travel Details: This position is primarily field-based and supports worksites throughout the assigned project area, requiring an average of 75% travel or temporary relocation to the project site. A vehicle allowance and fuel card will be provided. Per diem will be provided for travel expenses (meals and lodging).

Responsibilities
  • Maintains a constant focus on meeting/exceeding client needs and expectations in all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Plans, organizes and staffs key field positions in collaboration with organizational/divisional leadership.
  • Establishes project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within corporate policy.
  • Initiates and maintains liaison with client, subcontractors and vendors to facilitate construction activities.
  • Monitors/controls construction through administrative direction of on-site supervision to ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget; investigates potentially serious situations and implements corrective measures.
  • Represents the company in meetings and assists in labor negotiations/strategy meetings, etc.
  • Manages financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the project company’s interests while maintaining good relationships with clients, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Coordinates project activities as assigned, including planning and coordinating departmental activities with others, resolving problem areas, and ensuring company policies, procedures and standards are maintained.
  • Maintains liaison with clients, subcontractors and vendors to ensure construction activities support project schedule and client requirements.
  • Represents the company at project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and vendors as required.
  • Interprets project design/drawings for crafts installing materials.
  • Coordinates project material deliveries and subcontractor needs as needed.
  • Resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and the like; prepares field design change requisitions and “as-built” drawings as required.
  • Prepares (or directs the preparation of) and disseminates documentation such as status reports, punch lists, work item descriptions, progress sketches, material requirement calculations, etc.
  • Provides supervision and/or technical direction to engineers, crafts, and/or superintendent assigned to area of work to ensure proper sequence of work.
  • Presents design discrepancies to engineering management for resolution and prepares related documentation (field design change requests, beyond normal scope reports, etc.).
  • Performs building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of material.
  • Monitors and verifies construction progress to prepare monthly billings based on contract terms and work completed.
  • Performs additional assignments per Division Manager’s request.
Heavy Equipment Service and Maintenance
  • Assists in scheduling service and maintenance on equipment at the jobsite to reduce downtime and minimize operating costs.
  • Assists in equipment scheduling to optimize utilization of equipment and rental resources.
  • Assists in planning the workflow and equipment mix to ensure production at the lowest possible operating cost.
