Constructability Coordinator

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Constructability Coordinator 3 to fill a one-year contract assignment in the Birmingham, AL area.

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Required PPE:
Steel toe shoes, Hard hat, Hearing protection, Yellow vest, Eye protection

• 10 + years’ experience in heavy industrial or commercial construction
• 4 - year degree in a related field
• Extensive knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards
• Working knowledge of construction contracts and labor agreements
• Ability to interface with contractors, designers, vendors and other parties connected with the project
• Working knowledge of rigging and lifting methods
• Self-starter
• Proactive
• Effective communication skills
• Adequate knowledge of OSHA and applicable environmental regulations

• Participate as a member of project teams to develop project scope, project cost estimate, project schedule.
• Participate onsite field / scope visits
• Assist others in developing schedule including critical paths.
• Develop detailed construction plans and identify outage requirements to implement new facilities.
• Identify required permits & develop detailed estimates.
• Work with Utility Company major accounts group regarding outages that affect external/internal customers.
• Develop construction contract bid packages; review responses and participate in vendor selection.
• Conduct pre-bid meeting with contractors.
• Participate in design constructability reviews for all disciplines (site, foundation, electrical & relay, T-Line) to identify and eliminate costly expenses during the construction phase.
• Perform quality assurance checks during construction.
• Monitor schedule and progress versus requested in service date
• Responsible for closeout of construction contracts and as-built documentation
• Monitors that all Utility Company procedures and processes are followed so that we will comply with all regulatory requirements
