Commercial Glazing Estimator

The Commercial Glazing Estimator is responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial glazing projects. This role supports the preconstruction phase by analyzing project documents, performing detailed takeoffs, and preparing bids that align with company goals and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Analysis
  - Review and interpret architectural drawings, structural plans, specifications, shop drawings, and installation requirements.
• Estimating and Takeoffs
  - Prepare detailed material and labor takeoffs for windows, doors, storefronts, curtain walls, railings, partitions, and other glazing systems.
• Bid Preparation
  - Develop complete and competitive bid proposals that meet project specifications.
• Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination
  - Obtain and evaluate quotes for materials, fabrication, and subcontracted services.
• Risk Identification
  - Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and potential risks; recommend mitigation strategies.
• Communication
  - Coordinate with project managers, architects, general contractors, and internal teams to clarify scope and resolve questions.
• Market and Cost Research
  - Monitor industry trends, pricing changes, and new glazing technologies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of estimating experience, preferably in commercial glass and glazing
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital takeoff tools
• Experience with AutoCAD, GDS, Buildertrend, or Glass Manager preferred
• Strong math, budgeting, analytical, and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
• Professional and detail oriented approach to client and vendor relationships
