We are seeking an experienced Civil/Site Work Estimator to support industrial & commercial construction projects from early budgeting through final proposal. This role is responsible for evaluating civil scopes, developing accurate estimates, coordinating subcontractor and vendor pricing, and identifying potential cost and constructability concerns.
Key Responsibilities- Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, soil data, and other project documents to evaluate site and civil requirements
- Complete quantity takeoffs for earthwork, grading, underground utilities, paving, and related scopes
- Develop detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
- Prepare conceptual and preliminary budgets during early stages of project development
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners
- Identify scope gaps, cost risks, and potential challenges that could impact project pricing
- Prepare competitive proposals that clearly communicate scope, assumptions, qualifications, and exclusions
- Participate in value engineering and cost analysis to identify practical alternatives and potential savings
- Visit project sites as needed to evaluate existing conditions and gather information for estimating purposes
- Coordinate with project teams, design professionals, consultants, and clients throughout the preconstruction process
- Provide estimating and technical support to operations teams as projects move into construction
- Maintain awareness of applicable codes, standards, construction practices, and evolving sitework technologies
- Previous experience in civil, sitework, or heavy construction estimating
- Strong understanding of earthwork, grading, utilities, paving, and site development
- Experience preparing estimates, analyzing costs, and evaluating project risk
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff tools such as Agtek, Bluebeam, OST, AutoCAD, Excel, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical, mathematical, communication, and negotiation skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field preferred. Relevant industry experience may be considered in place of a degree
- Field experience with a site development or civil contractor is highly valued
