Overview

Boulo Solutions is partnering with an Episcopal Church in Birmingham, AL looking to hire a Part Time Communication Coordinator to join their team.

Salary: $25-30/hour, Part-time Non-exempt

Expected workdays and hours: 15-18 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening or weekend. Work remotely, except on Tuesday mornings for the Staff Meeting and as needed to accomplish duties.

Position Summary:

The Communication Coordinator creates, organizes, plans, and implements effective communication messages and strategies for the Church and the surrounding community. The Communication Coordinator collaborates with clergy, staff, and volunteer leaders to effectively communicate the parish s mission and vision, as well as its programs, events, and ministries.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees the design and production of all digital communications, including weekly e-newsletters, worship and parish-wide emails, updating website (news, events, and pages), and social media posts.
  • Design and produce all visual materials, including digital media, signage, banners, and occasional print materials (brochures, pew cards, pledge cards, etc.).
  • Collaborate with leadership to promote events and ministries, including the annual stewardship campaign.
  • Creates engaging worship bulletins for weekly and special services. This includes layout, updating content, and printing.
  • Coordinate the services of outside photographers, videographers, and graphic designers, as needed.
  • Ensure consistency across all platforms and printed materials, and that all communication aligns with the diocesan guidelines and church messaging standards.
  • Secondary Job Functions
  • Sends news and information to external resources as needed, including the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, Episcopal News Service, and local news organizations.
  • Assist with live streaming worship services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Education and Experience

    A communications degree is preferred. Other requirements include basic computer skills and knowledge of programs & software used (Canva, Publisher, MS Word, Mail Chimp, etc.), organizational and time management skills, ability to creatively ‘wordsmith’ all communications for clarity, audience appeal, and positioning of message, ability to collaborate well with others, staying focused, and consistent with our mission and values. Familiarity with the Episcopal Church preferred.
