This role takes ownership of projects from concept through completion — collaborating with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver functional, inspiring commercial spaces. Responsible for day-to-day tasks, including space planning, creating architecture and construction drawings, interior design, and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) selection and specification.
The role will also serve as an additional mentor to our interior design team.
- Develop space plans, mood boards, material palettes, furniture specifications, and construction documents
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from schematic design through installation and punch list
- Conduct site visits, field measurements, and progress reviews to ensure design intent is maintained
- Serve as primary day-to-day client contact, presenting concepts and managing feedback across design phases
- Collaborate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and general contractors to coordinate design details
- Prepare and deliver polished design presentations appropriate for executive-level audiences
- Produce detailed FF&E specifications and work with procurement to manage vendor relationships and lead times
- Create and maintain accurate drawings using AutoCAD; produce renderings in Sketch Up or equivalent
- Track project budgets, schedules, and submittals; flag risks proactively and propose solutions
- Mentor junior designers and provide design direction and quality review on their work
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or closely related field
- 4-7 years of professional interior design experience with a focus on commercial projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently from kickoff through closeout
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; confident presenting to clients
- NCIDQ certification or active pursuit of licensure
