Job Description

The Department of Computer Science (CS) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking candidates for one tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, with a start date of Fall 2026.

Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are sought:
High-Performance Computing, Computer Systems, Networking, Computer Graphics, Algorithms, Programming Languages and Software Engineering, Quantum Computing, Robotics.

Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a closely related field (or an expectation that this Ph.D. will be earned before the start of the appointment), to demonstrate strong research credentials as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in high-quality journals and conferences. Candidates should have a strong interest in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in teaching computer science topics at the university level and experience and success in obtaining research grants.

The CS Department at UAB offers PhD, MS, BS, and BA programs. The Department has a strong research focus, and a strong commitment to teaching, service, and outreach. The Department plays a leadership role in the Center for Cyber Security. Collaborations with UAB's medical enterprise are strong, with many opportunities for faculty to participate in interdisciplinary work. UAB has made a significant commitment to both research and teaching in Computer Science.
