Status: Part-Time, Grant-Funded
Position Summary:
Workshops Empowerment Inc. is seeking a compassionate and skilled part-time Facilitator to support the Construction Pathway within the Empower Pathways Program. This role is responsible for delivering structured, research-based instruction and wraparound support to individuals pursuing NCCER Core and OSHA 30 certification. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive workforce development and has experience working with individuals living with disabilities and other significant barriers to employment.
This role includes supporting participants in classroom learning, assisting with performance activities (in partnership with Build UP instructors), and helping ensure readiness for internship and employment placement in the construction field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily instructional sessions using evidence-based strategies tailored to adult learners and individuals with disabilities.
- Support student progress in the eight-week curriculum, in coordination with Build UP instructional staff.
- Provide individualized coaching and support, adapting instructional approaches to meet diverse learning needs.
- Monitor attendance, engagement, and progress of participants; maintain detailed records.
- Assist with job readiness and soft skills instruction embedded in the training model.
- Coordinate with external instructor to ensure completion of all performance verification tasks.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive classroom culture.
- Participate in ongoing team meetings, program evaluations, and student transition planning.
- Ensure ADA accessibility and provide appropriate accommodations when needed.
- High school diploma required; associate's degree preferred; preferred degree fields include:
Teaching/Education, Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, Special Education, Nursing or Allied Health, Related human services or workforce development fields - Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or other significant barriers to employment preferred.
- Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), differentiated instruction, and trauma-informed care preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to foster motivation, accountability, and empowerment in adult learners.
- Basic proficiency with computers and educational technology (laptops, SMART TVs, etc.).
- Experience with NCCER, construction trades, or career tech education is a plus but not required.
Part-time position: 20 hours per week for approximately 48 weeks per year
Hourly rate: $20/hour
Schedule will align with cohort calendar and include planning/prep time
Work Environment:
This position is based on-site at Workshops Empowerment Inc. in a classroom and simulated construction lab setting. The facilitator will work closely with a diverse team of staff, instructors, and community partners committed to inclusive workforce development.
