Overview
MyPath provides specialized services and dignified care for children, adolescents and adults with disabilities. The Richardson School in Madison seeks an Instructional Aide to support students with significant needs and behavioral concerns. The Aide will assist with education, therapeutic/behavioral support, and hygiene, building relationships and ensuring students’ academic and behavioral goals are met.
Responsibilities- Meet with classroom teacher and/or immediate supervisor to discuss daily activities, academics, behavioral support, social and/or medical concerns related to the students.
- Complete and submit instructional, behavioral data and paperwork in a timely fashion as scheduled for each assigned student.
- Use agency-approved treatment techniques in supervising and educating students as trained.
- Demonstrate familiarity with behavior management and behavior education techniques used at TRS.
- Act as a role model and set an appropriate example for students, staff, and the community.
- Implement students’ academic program in coordination with the classroom teacher and the TRS Education Leadership team using the IEP resources.
- Engage students in active learning as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Provide support for all staff working within the classroom setting and ensure that Education Department policies are withheld.
- At least 21 years old.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- At least one year of experience working with special needs students preferred.
- Eligibility for Instructional Aide license through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, solve problems, remain calm under pressure, maintain self‑composure and self‑control.
- Capability to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
- Hours:
8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday‑Friday. - Regular School Year plus Extended School Year (ESY) and Bobcat Camp availability.
- Pay Rate: $20 per hour, starting.
