Job Description
The Department of Biology/College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks candidates for a full‑time temporary Assistant Professor (Teaching Faculty) position in Biology. This is a one‑year, 9‑month faculty position with the possibility of renewal for an additional year based on performance.
Responsibilities- Teach introductory biology courses for majors and additional core courses such as Genetics, Microbiology, Physiology, and related subjects in collaboration with an interactive team.
- Develop and deliver instructional laboratory curricula.
- Participate in course development and design of online courses.
- Engage and support students from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Ph.D. in biology or a related discipline.
- Laboratory‑ and/or field‑based research experience.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence.
- Experience teaching undergraduate biology.
- Experience in developing instructional laboratory curricula.
- Experience in course development and online course design.
- Experience teaching large enrollment science majors courses.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
