Job Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an Admissions Counselor II scholarships coordinator, a full‑time staff member reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Scholarships in the Division of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships coordinator will provide primary support to scholarship‑eligible current students, award scholarships in BSMART, process external scholarships, serve as the main point of contact for scholarship questions, and represent the Scholarships Office.
The role also includes engaging prospective undergraduate students and their families at college fairs, high‑school visits, on‑campus and off‑campus events, and maintaining regular telephone and email contact.
- Provide primary support to scholarship‑eligible current students, including appeals, deferrals, scholarship renewals, and other specialized situations.
- Award scholarships in BSMART and process external scholarships received.
- Serve as the point of contact for student questions regarding scholarships.
- Represent the Scholarships Office during events and communications.
- Engage with prospective undergraduate students and their families at college fairs, visits to high schools, on‑campus and off‑campus events in a lead capacity and through regular telephone and email contact.
- Perform other duties as assigned in general support of the Scholarships Office.
- Bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years of related experience (work experience cannot substitute for education requirement).
- Current Driver's License from the State of Alabama.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Fast learner of specialized university technology.
- Detail‑oriented, strong prioritization, ability to work independently under structured deadlines.
- Knowledge and/or a desire to work with database applications.
- Experience working in a university setting is preferred.
Annual Salary: $39,215 - $48,000.
