Position Summary
Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. This is an applicant pool; individuals will be hired as needed. Applications remain on file for 36 months.
Terms of EmploymentEmployment is on an “As Needed” basis. Local salary schedule applies; not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. Salary is based on credentials and area of assignment:
Technical Adjuncts (1‑3 years experience) $20.40–$22.44 hr;
Technical Adjuncts (4+ years experience) $23.46 hr.
- Prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at freshman and sophomore levels, and perform other duties associated with institutional effectiveness.
- Adhere to requirements regarding the learning management system (Blackboard), including posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments, and test dates.
- Teach from current job‑relevant syllabi and training plans, supplement lectures with multimedia materials, demonstrate safe use of equipment, and include safety, health, and fire prevention.
- Maintain a conducive learning environment, supervise students, maintain discipline, and develop laboratory projects that relate theory to practical application.
- Distribute a current syllabus at the beginning of each term with objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, lab/shop rules, and required materials.
- Administer written and performance examinations and systematically record student progress using progress charts or the LMS.
- Teach students good work habits and maintain attendance records; submit attendance reports and grades on time.
- Communicate student progress to students and appropriate personnel; submit plans for absences and supervise in cooperative educational settings.
- Respond to student requests promptly (within 24–48 hours) and follow regulations for online instruction.
- Facilitate instructional methodologies that require industry chemicals/products.
- Maintain permanent roll, accurate attendance, grading consistency, and submit required forms to the registrar.
- Assist students in submitting required documents for graduation.
- Participate in departmental orientation, communicate administration announcements, and enforce institutional and system policies, FERPA regulations, and ADA accommodation requirements.
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent in the teaching discipline.
- Three (3) years of successful full‑time experience as a practitioner in the field.
- Applicable disciplines include Drafting & Design, Electronics, Cosmetology (Alabama license required), Culinary Arts, Automotive Service Technology, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration, Entertainment Media Production, Machine Tool Technology, Welding, Plumbing, Barbering, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy Technician.
