JROTC Army Instructor

WORK DAYS: 10 Months (204 Days) - SALARY: JROTC JSIP

JOB DESCRIPTION:
To prepare high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities and privileges as American citizens. Provide stimulus for maximum personal development, including graduation from high school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct a public affairs program in the local area among school and community officials, civic groups, parent-teacher groups, and other individuals or groups, designed to further the understanding of the JROTC unit, the school, and the Army
- Enroll students in the JROTC program and supports school officials conducting these programs
- Develop, implement, and coordinate a four year program of instruction based on the JROTC curriculum, and Master Training Schedule published by the Director of Army Instruction
- Develop a program of activities for students designed to enhance the understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship
- Participate in citywide JROTC programs and activities as required by the Director of Army Instruction
- Participate in JROTC summer camp, as required
- Maintain and submit records and reports to the school system and Army chain of command
- Communicate with parents/guardians, colleagues and community groups
- Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication
- Exhibit positive human relation skills
- Represent the US Army in a positive manner through professional conduct and bearing
- Engage in professional growth & demonstrate professional ethics & leadership
- Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state & federal rules & regulations
- Adhere to US Army policies and regulations pertaining to operation of a JROTC program as outlined by US Army Cadet Command, Second ROTC Region, Six Brigade, and the Director of Army Instruction for the Birmingham City Schools
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sergeant must have an Associate's Degree or obtain within two years after employment starts.
- Certification by US Army Cadet Command.
- Meet Army weight and physical fitness standards.
- SUCH ALTERNATIVES TO THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS AS THE BOARD MAY REQUIRE.
