Reports To:
Principal and P-K Teacher
Job Goal:
To assist the Pre-K teacher in achieving identified instructional/behavioral objectives and to help students take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of college-level education;
Valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate preferred - An earned Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or at least nine (9) credit hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education and Child Development
- Prior experience working with early childhood students preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of academic and behavioral strategies and techniques to assist students in learning
- Physically able to participate in restraint training and participate in restraint of a student, if needed
- Physically able to carry out tasks requiring moderate physical exertion
- Ability to use current technology
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
- Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, local law, and the Board may require
