Position Summary:
Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. Individuals will be hired as needed on an 'As Needed' basis not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. Salary is based on local schedule and credentials.
- Prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at Lawson State at the freshman and sophomore levels.
- Adhere to all requirements regarding the learning management system (Blackboard) including posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments and test dates.
- Teach from current job‑relevant course syllabi and training plan.
- Supplement lectures with multimedia materials and demonstrate safe use of equipment.
- Include safety, health and fire prevention as an integral part of instruction.
- Maintain an environment conducive to learning, supervise students and maintain discipline in class, lab and shop.
- Develop laboratory projects that link theory to practical application.
- Distribute current syllabi at the beginning of each term with course objectives, outline, evaluation methods and required materials.
- Administer written and performance examinations and record student progress.
- Implement a system of recording student progress such as progress charts or through LMS.
- Teach and demand good work habits from students.
- Submit teaching plans to the department chairperson for absence coverage.
- Communicate students’ progress to students and appropriate personnel.
- Supervise students in cooperative educational settings when applicable.
- Respond to students’ requests promptly, usually within 24 to 48 hours.
- Follow regulations regarding online instruction when applicable.
- Maintain permanent roll and accurate attendance of students and submit attendance reports on time.
- Follow state and institutional grading system and submit grades each term by the due date.
- Assist students in submitting required documents for graduation.
- Participate in departmental orientation and communicate announcements as directed.
- Adhere to FERPA, ADA and other institutional policies.
- Associate's degree or equivalent in teaching discipline.
- Three (3) years of successful full‑time experience as a practitioner in the field.
- Relevant instructional skills for disciplines such as Drafting & Design, Electronics, Cosmetology (Alabama license required), Culinary Arts, Automotive Service Technology, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration, Entertainment Media Production, Machine Tool Technology, Welding, Plumbing, Barbering, Phlebotomy and Pharmacy Technician.

Employed on an 'As Needed' basis; local salary schedule in accordance with credentials and not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. All exceptions must be approved by the Vice President for Instruction.
Salary
:
Local schedule based on credentials. Technical Adjuncts (1-3 years of experience) $20.40-$22.44/hr, Technical Adjuncts (4+ years) $23.46/hr.
