Job DetailsAdmissions Counselors are responsible for meeting or exceeding freshman recruitment goals for a geographic territory. They articulate the university’s mission to prospective students, families, and guidance counselors; represent the university at events; and manage recruitment from inquiry through enrollment, including reviewing applications, financial aid packages, and advising students.
ResponsibilitiesThe Admissions Counselor is responsible for meeting or exceeding the freshman recruitment goal for an assigned geographical territory. The incumbent will articulate the mission and values of the university to prospective students, families, and guidance counselors by autonomously crafting messages based on the specific audience. They represent the university at events such as college fairs, high school visits, alumni receptions, and on‑campus events, and will meet and exceed the needs of all constituents.
They also manage the recruitment territory from initial inquiry through enrollment, including informational sessions, reviewing applications for admission decisions and scholarships, reviewing financial aid packages, and counseling students on the full life cycle from application to enrollment to a broad audience of students, parents and high school counselors with differing tactics.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required. Excellent communication skills, including written, phone and face‑to‑face interactions, are essential. Must be able to use Microsoft Office products to maintain accurate prospect database. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the university carrier, as the position requires travel. Candidates are expected to work some nights and weekends as needed.
