Department: College of Arts and Sciences

Job Description: The Department of Communication Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is searching for a full‑time, temporary, non‑tenure track assistant professor, beginning August 2026. This one‑year position includes health benefits and a teaching load of eight courses per year over two semesters (4/4). Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in a range of courses.

Possible areas of teaching may include introductory and intermediate courses in media, digital media, social media, sports media, media production, journalism, communication technology, writing, and design. Classes will be offered in both in‑person and online formats. Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.

Required Qualifications: A PhD or MFA in media, communication, or a closely related discipline by August 15, 2026.
