this job posting is for any jrotc instructor (cte) teacher position in the district that may become available for the  school year. Schools may vary based on vacancies. job title: jrotc instructor (cte) supervisor: principal, director career technical education job goals:

  • to implement an educational program for the designated grade level and career technical subject area using the current designated course of study.
  • to serve as an integral part of the school system facilitating instruction and career opportunities for students

  • the jrotc instructors normally manage the administrative and supply requirements of the unit in addition to their teaching responsibilities. The jrotc instructor functions as a regular faculty member, working with the senior jrotc instructor, but may also work with other school officials, faculty members, as well as community leaders and parents to maintain and strengthen the program.
jrotc instructor qualifications
  • applications from all retiring or retired military officers and staff noncommissioned officers (snco) will be considered. Applications may be submitted not earlier than 1 year with an approved retirement date no later than 3 years after the effective date of retirement.
minimum qualifications:
  • must meet requirements of the united states military.
  • must be approved by that particular branch of the military.
  • valid alabama teaching certificate in junior reserve officer training corps (jrotc).
  • ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the alabama child protection act of 1999 and act no. .
  • ability to develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of students at the designated grade level(s) and in the designated content area(s)/subject(s).
  • proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
  • ability to solve problems as a productive team member.
  • ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
  • physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
  • ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
  • such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may require.
  • performance responsibilities and essential functions:
  • demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
  • demonstrates knowledge and understanding of career technical education in the subject/field/cluster assigned.
  • demonstrates knowledge of current educational research and implements best instructional practices.
  • utilizes technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
  • models appropriate and innovative use of technology for students.
  • facilitates and monitors the integration of technology in the classroom.
  • creates or selects long-range instructional plans based on a review of system and state curriculum priorities, student profiles and instructional priorities.
  • defines goals and objectives for long-range instructional, departmental, and daily lesson plans.
  • sequences content and activities appropriately; paces lessons and instruction to encourage student achievement.
  • instructs students in the use, care, maintenance, and safe operation of program equipment and tools in the assigned field of instruction.
  • maintains contact with business/industry community to keep abreast of job entry requirements, current technology and practices in the designated content field, and for student referrals and placements.
  • develops, implements, and revises instructional plans and lessons according to compliance monitoring standards.
  • establishes and maintains a learning environment in which students are actively engaged in the learning process.
