Position Summary

Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. Individuals will be hired as needed and will remain in an applicant pool for 36 months.

Terms of Employment

Employment is on an “As Needed” basis. Local salary schedule will be based on documented academic credentials and/or educational experience and will not exceed nine credit hours per semester. All exceptions must be approved by the Vice President for Instruction.

Salary

$18.03–$23.84 per hour per local salary schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at the freshmen and sophomore levels.
  • Use the learning management system (Blackboard) to post syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments, and test dates.
  • Adhere to and teach from current, job‑relevant course syllabi and training plans.
  • Supplement lectures and demonstrations with multimedia materials.
  • Demonstrate to students the safe use of equipment used in the training plan.
  • Include safety, health, and fire prevention as an integral part of instruction.
  • Maintain an environment conducive to learning.
  • Supervise students and maintain discipline in class, lab, and shop.
  • Develop laboratory projects that enable students to relate theory to practical application through laboratory assignments.
  • Distribute to students at the beginning of each term a current syllabus detailing course objectives, outline, methods of evaluation, schedule of activities, lab/shop rules and regulations, and course requirements.
  • Administer written and performance examinations systematically to determine student progress and to administer final examinations.
  • Implement a system for recording student progress (e.g., progress charts, Blackboard).
  • Teach and demand good work habits from students.
  • Submit to the department chairperson and supervising administrators a plan to be followed in case of absence.
  • Communicate students’ progress to students and appropriate personnel by established guidelines.
  • Supervise students in cooperative educational settings when applicable.
  • Respond to students’ requests promptly, usually within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Follow all regulations regarding online instructions when applicable.
  • Facilitate instructional methodologies concerning programs requiring industry chemicals/products when administering instruction.
  • Maintain permanent roll and accurate attendance of students.
  • Submit attendance reports as required on time.
  • Follow the state and institution’s adopted grading system.
  • Submit grades each term for each student by the due date.
  • Submit forms to the registrar when changes occur in students’ status.
  • Assist students in submitting the required documents for graduation.
  • Participate in departmental orientation.
  • Communicate to students announcements as directed by the administration.
  • Follow institutional and system policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Adhere to FERPA Regulations and report any known violations.
  • Adhere to ADA Accommodation requirements when presented with official documentation.
Qualifications

Adult Education (Part‑Time) Instructors:
Applicants must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Some teaching experience preferred.
