Position Overview

Provides direct intensive intervention with students. Assist in developing a systematic school-wide approach to MTSS. Facilitates and coordinates the implementation of a classroom intervention program. Provides direct curriculum and instructional support services to teachers including effective strategies and interventions.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist school in understanding screening, diagnostic and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners, instruction/intervention design, and students’ response to interventions, respectively.
  • Assist with designing intervention and monitoring response to intervention for students identified.
  • Assists schools in developing strategic plans for intervention and growth for students.
  • Monitor and report out student achievement data associated with MTSS.
  • Manage student intervention case loads.
  • Collaborate with school-based MTSS teams through development and implementation of MTSS at all tiers in identifying best practices regarding teaching, instruction, and assessments.
  • Uses identified research-based interventions based on individual student needs.
  • Serve as a liaison to administrators, teachers, counselors, and other stakeholders to develop appropriate academic and behavior interventions and supports through MTSS.
  • Customize and facilitate professional development in academics and behavior for MTSS based on schools’ needs.
  • Facilitate school-based professional learning communities (PLC) team meetings.
  • Assist school administrators in the implementation of MTSS.
  • Maintains records as required by the state, district, and/or school and makes appropriate reports as directed.
  • Provides high quality individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs.
  • Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress.
  • Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress.
  • Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress.
  • Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems.
  • Attends appropriate training and professional development to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Additional Responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Schools/Principal.
Employment Qualifications Education
  • Hold an Alabama Teaching Certification required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ successful teaching experience or a comparable position.
  • Knowledge of instruction, relevant curriculum, and strategies leading to success for students not meeting grade level standards.
  • Knowledge of the MTSS process and effective school-wide implementation systems.
  • Strong background and knowledge of research-based interventions.
Skillset
  • Takes initiative and self-starter.
  • Analyze assessments and other relevant data to assist in creating goals and objectives and evaluating the effectiveness of program services.
  • Develop goals and objectives; establish and meet schedules and timelines, work with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Thorough understanding of the State Standards.
  • Ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiation.
  • Strong understanding of elementary and middle school math and ELA concepts and teaching.
  • Detail oriented; excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines.
