Title: School of Optometry – Associate Professor/Professor, Optometry and Vision Science
The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Optometry invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor in Optometry and Vision Science. The successful candidate will conduct clinical, translational, or basic science research focused on vision science, including cellular and molecular biology of the eye, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, genetics, stem cell biology, biomedical optics and imaging, dry eye and contact lenses, myopia, concussion, psychophysics, and related topics.
Responsibilities- Develop and sustain an innovative, funded research program in vision science.
- Advance and contribute to the educational, service, and clinical missions of the School of Optometry.
- Engage in teaching, mentoring, and scholarly activities in optometry and vision science graduate programs.
- Doctoral degree (OD, PhD, MD, or an equivalent combination).
- Track record of research funding and scholarly productivity.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain a funded research program.
- Commitment to the educational, service, and clinical missions of the School.
- Current or past leadership experience.
- Desire to contribute to academic leadership in a meaningful way.
