Position Summary
Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. Applicants will be hired as needed and will remain on file for 36 months. The role involves preparing and delivering instruction for credited academic and technical courses at the freshman and sophomore levels and performing other duties associated with institutional effectiveness.
Terms of EmploymentEmployed on an "As Needed" basis with a salary schedule based on credentials and area of assignment. The position is limited to nine credit hours per semester.
Salary (Local Schedule)- Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) – MS/MA $1683 per 3 credit course
- Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) – PhD./Ed.D. $1836 per 3 credit course
- Academic Adjuncts (4 hrs.) – MS/MA $2244 per 4 credit course
- Academic Adjuncts (4 hrs.) – PhD./Ed.D. $2448 per 4 credit course
- Deliver instruction in accordance with the learning management system (Blackboard), posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, assignments, and test dates.
- Teach from current course syllabi and training plans, supplement with multimedia materials, and demonstrate safe equipment use.
- Incorporate safety, health, and fire prevention into instruction and maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Supervise students, maintain discipline, and develop laboratory projects that link theory to practice.
- Provide students with a current syllabus each term, including objectives, schedule, evaluation methods, lab/shop rules, and required supplies.
- Administer written and performance examinations, maintain progress records, and communicate results to students and administrators.
- Submit a plan for absences, respond to student requests within 24–48 hours, and follow all online instruction regulations when applicable.
- Facilitate instructional methodologies for programs involving industry chemicals/products.
- Maintain permanent rolls and accurate attendance records.
- Submit attendance reports on time and follow the state and institutional grading system.
- Enter grades each term by the due date and submit required forms to the registrar.
- Assist students in submitting necessary documents for graduation.
- Participate in departmental orientation.
- Communicate announcements as directed by administration.
- Follow institutional and system policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Adhere to FERPA regulations and report any known violations.
- Adhere to ADA accommodation requirements when presented with official documentation.
- Academic Division:
Language, Health & Physical Education/Science, Math, Social Science, Business – Minimum of a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in the teaching discipline.
