Position Summary
Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. This is an applicant pool. Individuals will be hired as needed. Submitted applications will remain on file for 36 months.
Terms of EmploymentAs needed basis; local salary schedule in accordance with documented academic credentials and/or educational experience; not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. All exceptions must be approved by the Vice President for Instruction.
Local Salary Schedule (based on credentials and area of assignment):
- Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) – MS/MA $1683 per 3 credit course
- Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) – PhD./Ed.D. $1836 per 3 credit course
- Adhere to all requirements of the learning management system (Blackboard) including posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments, and test dates.
- Teach from current, job‑relevant course syllabi and training plans.
- Supplement lectures and demonstrations with multimedia materials.
- Demonstrate safe use of each piece of equipment used in the training plan.
- Include safety, health, and fire prevention as an integral part of instruction.
- Maintain a learning‑conducive environment.
- Supervise students and maintain discipline in class, lab, and shop.
- Develop laboratory projects that relate theory to practical application.
- Distribute a current syllabus to students at the beginning of each term with objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, lab/shop rules, and required materials.
- Administer written and performance examinations to assess student progress.
- Maintain records of student progress such as progress charts and LMS logs.
- Encourage good work habits in students.
- Submit a continuity plan to the department chair or supervising administrators during absences.
- Communicate student progress to appropriate personnel.
- Supervise students in cooperative educational settings when applicable.
- Respond to students’ requests promptly, generally within 24–48 hours.
- Follow all regulations regarding online instruction when applicable.
- Facilitate instructional methods for programs involving industry chemicals/products.
- Maintain permanent roll and accurate attendance records.
- Submit attendance reports on time.
- Follow the state and institution’s grading system.
- Submit grades each term by the due date.
- Submit forms to the registrar when student status changes.
- Assist students in submitting required graduation documents.
- Participate in departmental orientation.
- Communicate announcements as directed by administration.
- Adhere to institutional and system policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Adhere to FERPA regulations and report any violations.
- Adhere to ADA accommodation requirements when presented with official documentation.
- Academic Division:
Language, Health & Physical Education/Science, Math, Social Science, Business. - Qualified applicants must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree, including 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in the teaching discipline.
