Position Summary
Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. This is an applicant pool; individuals will be hired as needed. Submitted applications will remain on file for 36 months.
Terms of EmploymentEmployed on an "As Needed" basis; local salary schedule in accordance with documented academic credentials and/or educational experiences and not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. All exceptions must be approved by the Vice President for Instruction.
SalaryLocal Salary Schedule (based on credentials and area of assignment) per contact hour:
Technical Adjuncts (1–3 years of experience) $20.40–$22.44/hr
Technical Adjuncts (4+ years of experience) $23.46/hr
- Prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at the freshmen and sophomore coursework levels.
- Adhere to learning management system requirements, including posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments and test dates.
- Teach from current job‑relevant course syllabi and training plans, supplementing lectures with multimedia materials.
- Demonstrate safe use of equipment, include safety, health and fire prevention as part of instruction.
- Maintain a conducive learning environment, supervise students and maintain discipline.
- Develop laboratory projects linking theory to practical application.
- Distribute a current syllabus at the beginning of each term with objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, lab/shop rules and required materials.
- Administer written and performance examinations, record student progress and maintain records of grades and attendance.
- Communicate student progress to students and appropriate personnel by established guidelines.
- Supervise students in cooperative educational settings, responding to requests within 24–48 hours.
- Follow online instruction regulations where applicable and facilitate instructional methods for programs involving industry chemicals/products.
Maintain permanent roll and accurate attendance, submit attendance reports on time, follow grading system, submit grades each term by the due date, submit forms to registrar when changes occur and assist students with graduation documentation.
Enforcement of College PoliciesParticipate in departmental orientation; communicate announcements as directed; follow institutional and system policies; enforce FERPA regulations; adhere to ADA accommodation requirements when documented.
QualificationsTechnical Division:
Drafting & Design, Electronics, Cosmetology (Alabama Cosmetology instructor license required), Culinary Arts, Automotive Service Technology, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration, Entertainment Media Production, Machine Tool Technology, Welding, Plumbing, Barbering, Phlebotomy and Pharmacy Technician

Instructors must hold a minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent in the teaching discipline and have three (3) years of successful full‑time experience as a practitioner in the field.
