The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a 12‑month, tenure‑track position within the Department of Cell, Developmental & Integrative Biology. This role involves teaching a broad population of students, including professional, graduate, and undergraduate students. Successful candidates will have a full‑time 12‑month commitment and a focus on providing superior educational content, with future opportunities for leadership and/or administrative roles.
The appointment may be aligned with intra‑school collaborations, including Medical Education and two departmental MS programs in Biomedical and Health Sciences and Anatomical Sciences Education. Funds for professional development, publication, and meeting attendance are available. Successful applicants are encouraged to apply for both intra‑ and extramural awards to support their research and/or the educational mission of the department.
We are seeking candidates with a PhD or MD and strong records of significant educational accomplishments. Candidates should possess a strong background in teaching anatomy, including demonstration of excellence in the teaching of anatomy and documentation of the use of innovative approaches to medical education. Cadaveric dissection skills are required for concurrent gross anatomy laboratories and for prosections. An ability to contribute to the teaching of histology would also be helpful.
