HCLI Technology Support Assistant

This is a student employment position. Applicants must be currently enrolled at Highlands College to be eligible.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The HCLI Technology Support Assistant provides technical support for Highlands College Leadership Institute (HCLI) instructional environments. This contracted student position exists to ensure classroom presentation technologies, audio systems, and streaming platforms are prepared and operating effectively before, during, and after HCLI class sessions. By delivering reliable technical support and exceptional customer service, this role helps create a distraction-free learning environment for instructors and students while advancing the mission of Highlands College.

Specific

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare HCLI learning environments prior to each class by ensuring technology systems are powered on, tested, and ready for instruction.
• Support instructors before, during, and after class with presentation technology and classroom needs.
• Operate the live production for HCLI class sessions, including switching cameras, managing presentation content, and monitoring stream quality throughout instruction.
• Respond to technical issues quickly to minimize disruption to instruction.
• Reset classrooms following each class by organizing equipment and returning technology to operational standards.
• Report equipment failures, recurring issues, and maintenance needs to the Director of Technology Support.
• Maintain a professional and welcoming presence while serving instructors, students, and guests.

Abilities &

• Ability to troubleshoot basic classroom technology issues.

Knowledge:

• Basic understanding of macOS.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365.
• Basic understanding of audiovisual equipment including displays, microphones, and presentation systems.
• Willingness to learn classroom streaming technologies and Educational Technology standards.

Education:

• Currently enrolled as a Highlands College student.
• Must maintain good academic standing and student conduct eligibility.

Experience:

• Previous customer service, production, classroom support, or technology experience preferred but not required.
• Technical training will be provided.

Extent of Public Contact:

• Medium – Regular interaction with instructors, adult learners, teammates, and campus guests.

Physical Demands:

• Low exposure to physical risk.
• Ability to move lightweight technology equipment as needed.
• Ability to stand and walk throughout class sessions.
• Occasional bending, reaching, and carrying classroom equipment.

• This position is not a team lead for any Highlands College teammates.
