CSI Instructional Assistant Principal
This is a 2-year grant funded position. The main objective of the CSI Assistant Principal of Instruction is to assist in leading academic growth by coaching teachers, developing curriculum, implementing instruction strategies, analyzing data, and working with the principal to foster a positive learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with providing instructional coaching with implementing evidence-based strategies
- Assist with facilitating timely data collection, analysis, and data-driven interventions
- Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating tiered instructional supports
- Assist with providing ongoing professional development with MTSS implementation
- Assist with providing evidence-based instructional intervention with student groups
- Assist with evaluating instructional delivery and student performance
- Assist with developing effective instructional and student observation processes and feedback
- Assist with facilitating PLC, ILT, and PST date meetings
- Assist with engaging stakeholders in ongoing data-driven decisions and trainings
- Participate in professional development related to MTSS practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
This position is a temporary appointment/assignment which will end June 30, 2028. This position is not permanent. Applicants selected for this position will not gain tenure in Birmingham City Schools. Current employees selected for this position agree to waive all due process rights.
Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree or higher with a major in Educational Administration/leadership from an accredited institution.
- A valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in the field of school administration/leadership.
- At least three (3) years successful teaching experience.

- Evidence of successful academic experience and/or leadership capacity
- Proficiency in analyzing student performance data to improve instruction and inform staff development needs.

- Outstanding organization and planning abilities
- Strong ability to work effectively with individuals and groups
- Knowledgeable in the area of best evidence-based instructional methods and strategies
- Ability to assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs, curriculum guides, and staff development initiatives.
