Role Description The Instructor in Quantitative Methods is a full-time, on-site position located in Birmingham, AL. The individual in this role will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in quantitative methods, including topics such as statistical analysis, research design, and data interpretation. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing syllabi and course materials, delivering lectures and facilitating discussions, designing and grading assignments and exams, and providing academic support through office hours and mentoring.

The instructor will collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, incorporate innovative teaching practices and educational technologies, and stay current with developments in quantitative methodologies. Additional responsibilities may include participation in departmental service activities and contributing to the academic success and engagement of a diverse student body.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in quantitative methods, including statistics, data analysis, and research design.
• Proficiency with statistical software and tools (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, or similar data analysis platforms).
• Demonstrated teaching skills, including course planning, lecture delivery, assessment design, and student feedback.
• Ability to explain complex quantitative concepts clearly to learners with diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective classroom facilitation abilities.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a diverse academic environment.
• Master’s degree or higher in quantitative methods, statistics, mathematics, data science, social science with strong quantitative focus, or a related discipline; doctoral degree preferred.
• Experience teaching at the college or university level, particularly in quantitative or methodological courses, is highly beneficial.
• Commitment to inclusive, equitable teaching practices and support for students from varied backgrounds.
• Interest in curriculum development, continuous improvement of teaching methods, and integration of technology-enhanced learning.
