Assistant Professor Department of Communication and Media; appointment, Tenure Track

Samford University’s Howard College of Arts and Sciences invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian University environment to apply for an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Communication and Media. This full-time tenure track position is a 9-month appointment and carries a twenty-four (24) credit-hour teaching load. The position will begin in August 2027.

Qualified candidates will hold a Ph.D. or be ABD, near completion, in communication studies or a closely related field from an institutionally accredited college or university (or equivalent). Candidates with the ability to teach courses in interpersonal communication, quantitative research methods, and organizational communication are preferred. Successful candidates should have an active research agenda and demonstrated excellence in teaching, with at least three years of college teaching at the undergraduate level.

Candidates may also be asked to participate in Samford’s general education program. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor, with commensurate salary, until Ph.D. is completed.
