Description

To foster a welcoming and supportive environment for international students by providing information and support on F-1 immigration status issues. To serve as Designated School Official (DSO) for the university s F-1 international student program. To advocate for international students by assisting with academic and/or administrative issues that interfere with the accomplishment of their educational and career goals. To advise international students on matters of immigration compliance and university policy.

Responsibilities
  • This role will serve as an immigration advisor helping F1 student to apply for extensions of stay through USCIS or via travel; as well as assisting with work authorization requests and SEVIS updates.
  • The position will work with both current international UAB students and those working on post completion OPT after completing their UAB degree.

Hourly Rate: $16.50 - $26.80

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in International Studies, Pre-Law, Higher Education or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident as required by federal regulations for certification as a Designated School Official (DSO).
