Assistant Professor of Public Relations Department of Communication and Media

Samford University’s Howard College of Arts and Sciences invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian University environment to apply for an Assistant Professor of Public Relations position in the Department of Communication and Media. This full-time tenure track position is a 9-month appointment and carries a twenty-four (24) credit-hour teaching load. The position will begin in August 2027.

Qualified candidates will hold a Ph.D. or be ABD, near completion, in mass communication, communication, or a closely related field from an institutionally accredited college or university (or equivalent). Candidates with relevant professional experience and ability to teach a variety of public relations courses including principles of public relations, public relations writing, and public relations campaigns are preferred. Additional expertise in brand and content strategy, and/or strategic communication, advertising and content creation a plus.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated a record of peer-reviewed scholarship and excellence in teaching. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor, with commensurate salary, until Ph.D. is completed.
