Senior Field Technician – Air Emissions
RWDI is a global climate and performance engineering consulting firm that helps clients redefine what’s possible while minimizing environmental impact.
We are seeking a Senior Field Technician – Source Emission to direct and execute complex source testing projects across various industrial sectors. This role combines hands‑on fieldwork with leadership and client‑facing responsibilities. The position is full‑time, permanent, located in Birmingham, AL.
Key Responsibilities- Lead project team in the field and perform on‑site stack testing and source emissions monitoring in accordance with federal and regional regulatory methods.
- Plan and manage field deployments, including crew logistics, equipment preparation, and safety procedures.
- Analyze collected data and ensure QA/QC protocols are followed throughout testing and reporting.
- Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams.
- Train, mentor, and oversee junior field technicians and new team members.
- Troubleshoot and maintain analytical and sampling equipment.
- Support project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with project managers.
- Stay current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices.
- Prepare high‑quality technical reports, including regulatory documentation and field observations.
- Post‑secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.
- Preferably a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Air Quality field.
- Ambient monitoring experience is an asset.
- Strong computer and analytical technical skills.
- Practical problem‑solving aptitude.
- Field/site experience is a definite asset.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong people and team skills and high motivation.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional organizational, coordination, and consultation skills.
- Willingness to travel and work outdoors, including long hours, evenings, and weekends.
- Capability to collect samples at heights and in all weather conditions.
- Salary: $90,000 – $140,000 per year.
