Neel-Schaffer seeks responses from experienced, qualified applicants for the position of Project Manager – Transportation to work in our Birmingham, AL, office.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in designing highway/roadway corridors, interchanges, roadway widening, and intersection safety improvements, for the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). Project Management experience is advantageous but not a requirement for this position.

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (with capability of becoming licensed in AL within 6 months).
• 6 to 15 years of progressive transportation/roadway design experience on transportation projects, including schematic development, preparation of plans, specifications and estimates.
• Experience working with design team; leading and managing design staff a plus.
• Experience in roadway plan production, Open Roads Designer, corridor modeling, template creation, importing/displaying alignment data and creating cross sections.
• Strong verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Micro Station V8i SS2, V8i SS10 and/or Open Roads Designer (preferred).
• Familiar with ALDOT Standards, AASHTO Green Book, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, MUTCD, ADA, PROWAG, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
