Development Engineer - Seating
Job Description
As a Development Engineer specializing in seating, you will support the analysis and understanding of production and field issues. Your role involves correcting BoM issues, analyzing functional and EE issues, preparing and executing engineering changes, finding part substitutions, and preparing documentation for meetings.
Responsibilities- Analyze and understand production and field issues related to seating.
- Correct BoM issues and updates.
- Find countermeasures for functional and electrical engineering issues.
- Prepare and execute engineering changes including issuing EC, KEM, Smaragd updates.
- Identify part substitutions and short‑term deviation solutions, and create and drive PDR.
- Address topics related to fasteners.
- Prepare documentation for meetings and miscellaneous tasks, such as writing PR/PO’s.
- Experience in parts development, liaison engineering, and supplier development.
- Expertise in automotive seating and VDA standards.
- Proficiency in engineering change management and BoM.
- Strong project management and supplier quality skills.
- 5-10 years of automotive seating engineering experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with components like plastic trims/covers (mainly 167), rim covers, foams, and supporting structure changes.
The role is based in a Mercedes engineering office, offering a professional setting equipped with modern technologies and tools necessary for automotive seating development.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. The role is fully onsite.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $59.00 - $59.00/hr.
