Traffic Engineer
Birmingham, AL Full-time Traffic Engineering
We are looking for a civil engineer to join our Traffic Engineering team in our Birmingham office. In this role, you will support the project manager in finding solutions to improve the Transportation systems for all users, including vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles.
Our team works on a variety of traffic engineering projects, including traffic signal design and retiming, traffic impact assessments, traffic operations studies, as well as ITS planning and design. These projects aim to enhance safety, improve mobility, and reduce congestion.
On a typical day, you might be designing a new traffic signal, retiming an existing traffic signal system, conducting a traffic impact study, or developing a deployment plan for field devices on an ITS project.
Must Haves- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Passion for Traffic Engineering and roadway safety
- Familiarity with traffic operations and conceptual geometric design
- Knowledge of the Access Management Manual, MUTCD, the Highway Safety Manual, and the Trip Generation Manual
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
- Valid Driver's License
- Engineer Intern (E.I.) certification preferred
- Experience with traffic impact studies
- Involvement in a professional organization
- Prefer software experience with Micro Station, Open Roads, ArcGIS, and/or Synchro
