Senior Structural Engineer 2
The Senior Structural Engineer 2 position is an opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in heavy industrial and power plant settings. The role demands over 20 years of industry experience or a combination of accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering along with a professional engineering license. The position involves providing structural engineering services and field support, including design preparation, calculation, and construction site assessments.
Responsibilities- Provide structural engineering services and field support.
- Conduct preparation of designs and structural calculations.
- Perform site walk downs of construction sites.
- Develop cost estimates and material takeoffs.
- Provide schedule and staffing input for projects.
- Produce and check structural steel design calculations and drawings.
- Detailed knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles.
- Proficiency with structural codes and standards.
- Extensive experience with structural steel connection design.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with structural computer programs such as STAAD PRO.
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple large‑scale, multi‑discipline projects.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with OSHA regulations.
- Ability to perform structural inspections and provide written reports.
- Capability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors.
The position offers a remote environment. There is an expectation of willingness to travel to generation sites across the designated regions. This role involves collaboration with a diverse team and requires adherence to safety standards and protocols.
Job Type & LocationThis is a contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. The role is a hybrid position in Birmingham, AL.
Pay And BenefitsPay range: $50.00 – $65.00 per hour.
