BasicJob Functions:
Nucor Steel Birmingham is seeking a Metallurgist interested in taking on a technical role based upon the needs of the plant and the candidates’ experience. Job functions could range from process/product metallurgy, product/process improvements, or problem-solving projects throughout the facility. Other functions may include providing training to teammates, metallurgical assistance to technical service representatives and customers, and continuous improvement of the melt shop process.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, Nucor Steel Birmingham, Inc. will not sponsor the need for a visa now nor in the future.
Minimum Qualifications:BS degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, or a related engineering discipline or equivalent melt shop experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in relevant production and steelmaking processes.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Track record of applying metallurgical concepts in a team-driven environment.
- 5 years of melt shop process experience
