Dewberry’s Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) team includes a large group focused on design services for nationwide clients in specialized facility types and specialized design services. Because our backlog continues to grow and the demand for our expertise is accelerating, we are seeking an Electrical Discipline/Department Manager to join our Birmingham, AL office. As a Electrical Discipline/Department Manager,
you will be responsible for providing operational and technical guidance and training/mentoring of our design resources in all areas of work we do associated with Electrical engineering. You will assist the Business Unit Manager and Service Line Leader in the development and implementation of growth strategies.
You will also assist the Project/Client Managers by providing technical guidance to help meet the client’s desires and budget.
You will also work with a team of engineers on a variety of private, public, and federal projects. In addition to working with electrical engineers,
you will team with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines to provide full‑range services to our local and regional clients. In short,
you will provide business leadership and technical guidance associated with electrical engineering to accomplish our project commitments and growth objectives. This role reports to the Business Unit Manager.

The Electrical Discipline/Department Manager will be responsible for growing, mentoring, and developing the electrical staff in a way that allows each individual and our collective MEPS team to achieve maximum potential. More specifically:
- Providing electrical technical guidance/leadership to accomplish the work committed to in proposals and assigning/leading the appropriate electrical resources to do the work.
- Assist Project/Client Managers by providing engineering resources – a design team – to help meet the client’s desires and budget. Duties would also include some involvement in direct sales and assisting with sales efforts for multidiscipline projects.
- Technical and Quality oversight of all electrical work. Authority for all technical decisions made for projects within the Department including establishing/improving electrical design standards.
- Provide on-the-spot advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates.
- Coordination with all disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
- Taking a highly active role in recruitment of electrical staff including networking, recruitment, interviewing and "deal closing".
